Cincinnati FBI breach suspect is killed in shootout and identified as possible Jan. 6 participant

At 9 AM Thursday morning, the FBI office in Cincinnati, Ohio, says that an armed man attempted to “breach the Visitor Screening Facility” at their headquarters. An alarm was set off and the suspect then fled the scene. He has reportedly engaged law enforcement personnel in a chase and there has been a lockdown of Clinton County.

As of the writing of this post, the man remains unidentified, as are his motives. According to the Clinton County Emergency Management Agency’s Facebook page, the suspect has “not yet been taking into custody, but is contained. He is wearing a gray shirt and body armor, and is armed.”

Law & Crime reports that the suspect is actively engaged in a shootout and standoff with law enforcement” at the time of reporting. ABC correspondent Aaron Katersky reports that the suspect is reportedly armed with “an AR15-style rifle.” The “contained” reference in the Clinton County Management statement seems to mean that the suspect is in a cornfield, pinned down by law enforcement.

While the motivations of this incident are not yet known, the right wing of the country has very quickly jumped into the conspiracy-minded defensiveness we have come to expect.

NBC News correspondent Ken Dilanian is reporting that the suspect has been killed by law enforcement. He’s been identified as Ricky Walter Shiffer. According to Dilanian, Shiffer “was at the Capitol on Jan. 6.”

The suspect, identified by the officials as Ricky Shiffer, 42, seems to have appeared in a video posted on Facebook on Jan. 5, 2021, showing him attending a pro-Trump rally at Black Lives Matter Plaza in Washington the night before the Capitol was stormed.

Reporter Rozen believes she has identified some of Ricky Shiffer’s digital footprints. They include his presence at the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection as well as evidence of campaign contributions to Donald Trump.

“In another Twitter post, [he] wrote about the…Proud Boys: ‘Save ammunition, get in touch with the Proud Boys and learn how they did it in the Revolutionary War, because submitting to tyranny while lawfully protesting was never the American way.’“

The very obvious connection that many are making is between the intense anti-FBI and law enforcement rhetoric and calls for the overthrow of the government being made by right-wing media personalities as well as elected officials. For all we know, today’s attack at the FBI offices in Cincinnati are not at all connected to tweets like this:

The Biden Regime is now effectively using the FBI to crush dissent. That’s what’s happening. Tyranny has become law.

— Rep. Paul Gosar, DDS (@RepGosar) August 10, 2022

The FBI has reportedly seized the cell phone of House Freedom Caucus Chair, Scott Perry. Our country is becoming unrecognizable. The FBI, and the Regime they take marching orders from, are the enemy of the American People. They must be stopped. DEFUND THE FBI

— Rep. Paul Gosar, DDS (@RepGosar) August 9, 2022

Imagine the backlash if while he was in office, Trump had Obama’s home raided and AOC’s phone seized. Are you tired of the double standard?

— Mark Meuser for U.S. Senate (@MarkMeuser) August 10, 2022

And incoherent gobbledygook like this:

Save America Stop Communism!

— Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene🇺🇸 (@RepMTG) August 11, 2022

Coupled with this fact-free sentiment:

This is the type of rogue tactics that happen in countries right before they fall into tyrannical dictatorships. No one should tolerate this!!!

— Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene🇺🇸 (@RepMTG) August 10, 2022

Now, in all honesty, this might turn out to be unrelated to the Second Amendment fetish, anti-democracy movement that brought us an attempted coup d’etat during the last election. Who is to say? We UPDATE: It turned out exactly how you thought it would. But you know who’s ready to be persecuted? Conservatives.

Every top post on TheDonald is claiming the Cincinnati FBI situation is a false flag. They constantly agitate for these kinds of attacks and never, ever take credit for them. It allows them a permanent victimhood.

This guy.

The mainstream media reaction to reports of an armed suspect trying to breach the FBI’s Cincinnati field office is laughably breathless compared to the blind eye turned toward the leftist siege on the federal courthouse in Portland.

— Spencer Brown (@itsSpencerBrown) August 11, 2022

And this guy.

Charlie Kirk responds to alleged attack on Cincinnati FBI office: “They’re now going to try to play the victim after they occupied Donald Trump’s home, a military occupation”

— Jason Campbell (@JasonSCampbell) August 11, 2022

Why would traditional media outlets and most people with just the rudiments of critical thought make this connection?

No idea.
