In the news today: Another Trump aide who was witness to events inside the White House leading up to the Jan. 6 coup attempt has agreed to give public testimony to the House select committee investigating the coup; Trump’s former deputy press secretary, Sarah Matthews, resigned her post immediately after the Trump-incited violence. Sen. Lindsey Graham is less eager, however, to testify about his own role in pressuring Georgia elections officials to alter vote totals on Trump’s behalf; he’s lawyered up in a bid to prevent it.
The Supreme Court stunned actual legal minds yet again (sigh) when they decided to hear arguments in a case that would allow states to simply forgo federal elections outright, instead allowing state legislatures to name which candidate should win. The new news that a prominent Christian fascist has long had the ear of the Court’s conservative justices, however, may or may not be related.
